Karen Swarbrick Counselling
About Me
Experienced. Certified. Supportive.
I am a qualified and registered relationship counsellor with a post graduate diploma. I have for the past several years been working on a voluntary basis for a counselling organisation in Scunthorpe and from June 2022 will be welcoming clients on a private practice basis.

My health career, spanning 33 years, has involved roles as a nurse, midwife, and health visitor, with a back problem in recent years turning me down a less physical path in the helping professions. In parallel, I have spent many years working alongside SANDS (Stillbirth And Neonatal Society) supporting families through infant loss. I am the founder and manager of the SANDS support group in Scunthorpe, having personal experience of this loss in the past.

My manner is caring, compassionate and genuine, with the aim of engaging with clients to form a confidential and trusting therapeutic relationship. I work with different modalities and use different interventions, depending on the client’s individual needs, helping them to make appropriate changes in their life for their increased wellbeing.

Registered with the National Counselling Society, I hold appropriate insurance and qualifications and complete regular CPD to expand knowledge and attend monthly professional supervision. I have also an up to date enhanced DBS.
